A local automotive group is bringing a taste of Italian luxury to West Broad Street.

Page Auto Group plans to open a Maserati dealership at 9001 W. Broad St. in mid-February. It will sit on the same property as Page’s current Audi and Volkswagen dealerships and will be the first Maserati dealer in the Richmond market and the third in Virginia.

Larry Page, owner of Page Auto Group, said his company landed the brand in October after Maserati owner Fiat Chrysler came to the Richmond area seeking a group to run its dealership in the market.

“They came to Richmond looking for someone that had luxury car experience, and I think the job we’ve done with Audi made us a good choice for them,” Page said.

Page owns seven other dealerships around the Richmond market selling the Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Scion, Audi and Volkswagen brands.

The company is renovating a 7,000-square-foot building to house its Maserati stock. The cost of the renovations will run about $550,000, Page said. But the space will be a temporary set-up for the Maserati cars that will eventually move into the current Audi building. The Audi dealership will then likely move to a new property in Goochland County.

Those plans are still in their preliminary stages, Page said, and he did not give the exact location of the potential new Goochland Audi dealership.

The Ghibli is predicted to be the most popular model, priced at between $70,000 and $80,000.

The Ghibli, a four-door sedan priced between $70,000 and $80,000, is likely to be the most popular model sold on the site, Page said. Other cars, such as a four-door convertible, will be priced in the $140,000 to $150,000 range.

The dealership will initially carry four models, including the Ghibli and the Quattroporte, another four-door sedan. But it will continue to grow as it draws in some new Maserati models set for release later in 2015, Page said.

“Richmond is an up-and-coming, upscale market, we believe, especially in the luxury segments,” Page said. “(Maserati has) a lot of new products coming, and we feel like it’s going to be a wonderful car to represent in Richmond. It has a wonderful history—they just celebrated 100 years.”

Page said he’ll keep an average of 30 to 40 Maseratis on the property at one time. He expects to sell an average of 10 cars a month over the first six to eight months as the dealership grows.

Five or six employees will staff the new dealership initially. Page Auto Group already employs 425 workers, and Page said the Maserati dealership will eventually employ 20 to 25 people.

Maserati corporate did not respond to requests for comments by Monday evening.

The brand was established in 1914 in Bologna, Italy, according to the brand’s website. Its other two Virginia Maserati dealers are in Virginia Beach and Sterling.

Katie – Thanks for sharing the exciting news that Maserati is cruising back into the Richmond area. Maserati is one of today’s top luxury brands, I’m sure Page Auto Group will represent them well. However, I think this may be the second Maserati dealership to come to Richmond. I recall visiting the first Maserati dealership on Midlothian turnpike back in the late 80’s at Frick Motor Gallery. Mr. Frick had a showroom collection of classic cars and the Maserati line. It’s unbelievable to see how far along the craftsmanship of Maserati has come!

Thanks,

Steve

Katie- Very glad that we are getting something closer to me because I was definitely tire of riding to Virginia Beach for anything having done to my Grand Turismo

Thanks,
