With construction complete, the 120,000-square-foot retail development at Carytown’s western edge has added three more tenants, including the Texas-based cake shop chain, a yoga studio and a women’s clothing store.

“I had been working out of my house since 2020. I have a three-year-old. There are dishes everywhere, toys everywhere, laundry. I knew I definitely was not the only person in the neighborhood going through that.”
The 25,000-square-foot building would rise on a vacant pad next to the shopping center’s Joann crafts store and would appear to be intended for a single user, which has yet to be disclosed.
With hundreds of apartments already in the works in the vicinity, plans were filed with the city this week for a 314-unit apartment building that would rise at 1316 Ownby Lane.
“There are a bunch of us that are totally fed up with it and somehow or another the board needs to be replaced and somebody needs to sit with these guys and say ‘what’s going on?’” said one shareholder of Medalist Diversified REIT.
