A Northside juice bar’s relocation to Jackson Ward looks to have opened the door for a new bagel shop to join the neighborhood. 

Susie’s will move into the Cary Street building and serve items like brisket and matzoh ball soup, while the Hop’s owner is now focusing on his frozen pizza spinoff.

A family connection helped bring the concept to Innsbrook, as Fishin Pig co-owner Matt Hurley’s brother, Mark, owned Hurley’s Tavern before it closed earlier this year. 

The Le Box name will be retained, as will many of its most popular items, and the plan is to serve Ronnie’s barbecue there on certain days of the week.  

The Florida-based chain has 70 locations. The Short Pump store would be its first in the region and first in Virginia.

Former meteorologist and gas station owner Brian Ghazale is the franchisee behind the region’s first Cinnaholic bakery.

New owners have taken the reins for the second time in eight years – and this time one of the restaurant’s employees is part of the ownership group.

Giuseppe Giambanco, whose family previously owned Roma Ristorante Italiano in Henrico, is opening Il Forno a few blocks from Randolph-Macon College.
