In the news business, there’s no time to stop and catch your breath. Yet, slowly but surely we’re expanding coverage.
Two weeks ago we added a weekly commercial real estate roundup feature, where we list the businesses that are moving or taking new space. We’re still perfecting the format, and still waiting for some commercial realtors to get on board by sending us weekly updates or press releases. One firm’s marketing lady said the site was, “bloggy.” She definitely meant it as a criticism.
We also added an Ad Report Card, where we critiqued local ads. This is more of the opinion-related content. Our first story examined a sultry vixen in the tub. Next month we’ll probably examine Virginia Tourism Commissions “Live Passionately” campaign.
And this week we’re adding monthly feature on the venture capital / startup community. On Thursday we’ll be covering the Venture Forum’s luncheon about Biotech. In the future, we’ll expand the feature to look at a business that might seek financing, as well as offer insight into what local venture capitalists think of the idea and its chances of success.
Our goal is for BizSense to become an essential tool for other businesses. But we’re young (a fawn, perhaps??), and not embarrassed to admit that we could use some help. We’re trying to figure out what information businesses NEED – the information and updates that help them with day-to-day operations – the information that helps them grow.
Please tell us what sort of information you’ve found helpful, and what sort of information you’d like to see in the local business media. Please email the types of story ideas you’d like to see to [email protected].
