According to a WSJ article in today’s paper, restaurants are shedding jobs as consumers cut back on eating out. It’s also lowering paychecks for waiters and waitresses. RBS is still analyzing recent restaurant tax information from the City of Richmond. We should have a story about the local restaurant industry soon. Today’s WSJ story cites Richmond-based part-time job site SnagAJob.
“SnagAJob says that as of last month, there were 36 applicants for every restaurant job posting. That’s up from 22 applicants a posting in January.”
Meanwhile, Starbucks is now giving out free samples. Since when does Starbucks give out anything for free? I was there yesterday and they were handing out some fancy version of hot chocolate and mini brownies.
