Wachovia on Thursday announced plans to hire more than 200 workers to man its local call center.
Approximately 220 positions will be added beginning in January and through the first half of 2011 at the company’s Innsbrook call center. They are full-time, entry-level call center jobs complete with full benefits packages.
More positions will likely be added during the second half of 2011, according to manger Gary Mance.
The news comes just a few weeks after another big local call center hiring announcement. Capital One said in late October that it was adding 700 jobs at its recently purchased Innsbrook buildings. Read more on that here.
Wachovia’s Innsbrook facility currently employs about 1,500, Mance said, 700 of whom work in the call center. Wells Fargo Advisors also has workers in the facility, and there are back office and data center operations there as well.
According to Mance, the hiring push is a result of the ongoing merging of operations and new product lines of Wachovia into its new owner, Wells Fargo.
“We’re doing an effective job of cross-selling in our organization,” Mance said. “A lot of the new processes that we are putting in place to increase our cross-sell means we will have more accounts to manage.”
About 300 to 400 people have been hired at the facility this year, he said.
The call center operates from 5:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m., seven days a week.
