Q, cubed

qbbqA local barbecue restaurant is bringing its award-winning smoked meats to Henrico.

Q Barbeque is working to open its third location near Virginia Center Commons by mid-November.

“That is an area we don’t have a presence in at all,” said Leslie Stone, a principal at business and the wife of founder Tuffy Stone.

“We think that market will be really receptive, because I know they are not driving to Midlothian,” Stone said.

Q opened its first location in Midlothian in 2008 and last year opened a new location at Peninsula Town Center in Hampton Roads.

The new restaurant will be located at 1070 Virginia Center Parkway in the space formerly occupied by Vinny’s Italian Grill. The 4,500-square-foot space will have seating for 120 customers, Stone said.

qbbqinsideQ wants to continuing to expand the concept and plans to open more locations in Richmond over the next two years.

“We are looking to have another one … in the far West End,” Stone said.

The most recent location has been about a year in the making, so Stone said they are looking around now for their next space.

“You would think with the way the economy is, with the number of buildings you see vacant, it would be easier to find a location,” Stone said. “It’s just not.”
