A Northern Virginia firm is planning to write a huge check to get its hands on a local web company.
Fairfax-based ICF International said late Monday that it would pay $100 million to acquire Ironworks Consulting, a 10-year-old company headquartered in Innsbrook.
The two companies have entered into an agreement for the deal, but no timetable for the deal was announced.
Ironworks is a web development company that serves the health, energy and financial services industries, as well as government agencies and nonprofits.
Ironworks, according to a joint release from the companies, is expected to bring in $57 million in revenue for 2011. The company also has offices in Tysons Corner, Minneapolis, Raleigh and Charlotte.
ICF, which is publicly traded, had revenue of $218.7 million in the third quarter.
