The newest BizSense event has scored a big-league addition.
Byron Daub, senior director of brand sponsorships for Capital One, will round out the panel of five at the upcoming “Breakfast of Champions: The Big Business of the NCAA.”
Daub oversees Capital One’s high-profile national sponsorships of athletic events, including the company’s partnership with the NCAA, the Capital One Bowl and the Capital One Cup.
The Capital One name, for example, was plastered everywhere during broadcasts of March Madness last month.
Daub joins an all-star panel of college sports insiders from Richmond and across the state who will field questions about the big dollars behind college athletics.
His fellow panelists are Cory Alexander, a former all-ACC point guard at UVA and first round pick in the 1995 NBA draft; Glenn Hofmann, executive associate athletic director for external relations at VCU; Lisa Rudd, associate director of athletics for financial affairs at Virginia Tech; and Tom Yeager, commissioner of the Richmond-based Colonial Athletic Association.
The discussion will be moderated by Wes McElroy, afternoon host on Sports Radio 910 WRNL-AM, pregame and halftime host on VCU’s RAM Radio and co-host of the Flying Squirrels Insider TV show.
The event will be Tuesday, May 21 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump.
