A retired public accountant has listed his home off River Road in eastern Goochland County for $2.45 million.

The 7,600-square-foot house at 300 Wickham Glen Drive is the home of William T. Bishop Jr. and Inga W. Bishop, who listed the property March 10 through Sue Farrell of Joyner Fine Properties.

Its asking price puts it in the top 10 highest priced homes currently up for sale in the Richmond market.

Bill Bishop retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers and served as managing partner of its Richmond office. Farrell said the couple is returning to Bishop’s hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, to be closer to family.

The Bishops had a hand in designing house, which was built in 2009 by local custom builder Lancaster Corp. The couple purchased the nearly 1.4-acre property and home from Lancaster that year for $2.31 million, according to county records. It was most recently assessed at $2.2 million.

Totaling 15 rooms, with five bedrooms and an additional 1,200 square feet of unfinished space, the three-level house includes a 2,000-square-foot outdoor terrace with a wood-burning fireplace and a master suite with a sitting room divided by a double-sided gas fireplace.

The home also includes a downstairs media room, billiards area, gym with adjoining bath, four garage bays – two on the ground level near the kitchen and another pair on the lower level for guests.

Farrell, who helped the Bishops locate the site and connected them with the builder, said the home’s setting and custom construction sets it apart from other properties.

“It’s a beautiful, almost-1½-acre parcel on a larger, natural field of land and pond that actually gives one the feeling that you are sitting on a lot more property than you really have to buy,” Farrell said.

Farrell said she expects the home’s buyer will be drawn to its custom details and access to area private schools and amenities.

Located across River Road from St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Wickham Glen Drive is just east of the Rivergate community, where a home purchased for $1.59 million topped area home sales in January. Just up the street, another home on Wickham Glen Drive made the top-five list of area home sales last March, selling for $1.19 million.

I could easily buy this house with cash but who wants to live there? TOO SMALL

Also isn’t PriceWaterHouse the academy awards group?? NOT accounting…

Get the facts right and then maybe i’ll buy the house

Seriously???? 7,000+ square feet is too small. Also, why would someone ever pay cash for a house. They did get their facts right, PWC does more than just audit services…HELLO do a little research before telling someone to get their facts right.
