The home of a prominent Richmond businessman has hit the market.
Charles Luck III, chairman of Goochland County firm Luck Companies, recently listed his riverside residence for $2.99 million.
The 8,000-square-foot villa-style home, at 127 Kennondale Lane in the city’s West End, was listed by Lynn Pritchard with Joyner Fine Properties. She declined to comment on the listing, citing her client’s desire for privacy.
City property records show the home is owned by Charles S. Luck III and True F. “Tootie” Luck. The couple purchased the home in 2003 for $1.4 million. A recent city assessment valued the property at $2 million.
Charles Luck is a former president of Luck Stone, the family-owned quarry and stone yards company that is the core business of the Luck Companies. His son, Charles Luck IV, is now president and CEO of the Luck Companies, which earlier this year completed the sale of two of its business units.
Built in 1983, the stucco-and-limestone home with a tile roof overlooks the Kanawha Canal and James River across from Williams Island, where the river’s Z-Dam is situated.
The one-acre property includes four bedrooms and 4 ½ bathrooms. Primary living spaces feature 10-foot-high ceilings with views of the water from the ground floor and a lower level. The home includes an elevator, recreation room and exercise room.
The property also includes a curved driveway and cobblestone courtyard that the Lucks expanded and updated over 18 months. Stone walls line the grounds, which contain walkways and terraces and a two-car garage.
Located off Cary Street Road, the home is a few streets down from another million-dollar listing: 18 Hampton Hills Lane, which was listed in August and recently reduced to $1.59 million.
