A fast-growing local behavioral healthcare company has inked its second acquisition in as many months.
Richmond-based ncgCare, which last month purchased North Carolina-based Appalachian Community Services, has closed on a deal to acquire Starlight Behavioral Health Services, a healthcare provider with three locations in West Virginia.
The deal closed Aug. 15. Terms were not disclosed.
The acquisition is the latest in a string of deals for ncgCare, which has been aiming to double its size in five years. Other acquisitions in recent years have included Raleigh-Durham-based Turning Point Family Care, Pennsylvania-based Community Alternatives and, last year, Southside Richmond-based TSG Services.
Starlight Behavioral will continue operating under its current name with the brand tag, “an ncgCare partner.” Headquartered in Huntington, the company was founded in 2006 and serves children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It totals 180 employees across three locations in the western counties of West Virginia.
Starlight Behavioral joins ncgCare’s network of providers, which include National Counseling Group, Embrace Treatment Foster Care, Avenues to Wellness, Envision Counseling and Turning Point. The network serves thousands of children, adults and families annually with mental health services, foster care and outpatient services through various brands that employ more than 1,500 workers.
Started in 1993 as Northern Virginia Counseling Group, ncgCare is the parent entity of Virginia-based National Counseling Group and its subsidiaries.
The company secures its acquisitions with growth capital provided by NewSpring Mezzanine, a small business investment division of Pennsylvania-based NewSpring Capital.
