Richmond
Business before the planning commission today includes a special-use request for Dogtown Brewing Co., the brewery planned by Michael Hild and Laura Dyer Hild at the former Thalhimers department store at 1209 Hull St. The item is on the commission’s consent agenda, typically routinely approved unless a member requests discussion on an item. Fifth floor conference room at City Hall, 1:30 p.m.

Also on the commission’s consent agenda: a special-use request to allow the Tang & Biscuit shuffleboard club at 3406 W. Moore St. in Scott’s Addition to operate as a nightclub and add signage via a mural. The commission will also receive an informal presentation of the draft “ONE VCU” master plan.

City Council’s Education and Human Services Standing Committee meets Thursday to consider a code amendment establishing a History and Culture Commission. Duties would include advising the mayor and the planning and development review department on preservation and interpretive signage issues, including the recommendations of the Monument Avenue Commission regarding the city’s Confederate statues. Noon, council chambers.

The comment period for updates to the county’s comprehensive plan ends Nov. 12. Comments can be submitted online and the plan can be reviewed here.

Chesterfield Economic Development presents “Let’s Get Down to Business” at 8 a.m. Wednesday at 9401 Courthouse Road. A presentation will include an overview of product, programs and services for veterans and civilian business owners. Free; registration required.

Goochland
Supervisors on Wednesday will receive the county’s annual report and hold a public hearing on Eric and Liza Cioffi’s request to permit Courthouse Creek Cider to add a microbrewery and distillery at their existing facility at 1581 Maidens Road. The board will also consider adopting the 2040 Major Thoroughfare Plan and including it in the county’s comprehensive plan. 3 p.m., board meeting room. Full agenda here.

The planning commission meets Thursday to consider rezoning and provisional-use permit requests. Public hearings are scheduled on two comprehensive plan amendments that would change land use classifications in the Westwood area and properties in the Glen Allen area. An ordinance establishing a redevelopment overlay district for the Westwood area will also be considered.

The commission also will consider initiating a site study for the planned expansion and redevelopment of Highland Springs High School. Full agenda here. 7 p.m., board room, administration building.

Supervisors meet Wednesday with the county’s General Assembly delegation to discuss legislative priorities for the upcoming session. 5 p.m., county manager’s third-floor conference room, administration building.
