For its first store in the Richmond market, a well-known eyewear retailer has set its sights on Short Pump.

Warby Parker, which sells prescription eyewear and accessories, plans to open an outpost at Short Pump Town Center in the fall.

A company spokeswoman confirmed that the new store is in the works but would not comment further.

Warby Parker is taking over suite 1324, a first floor space that was formerly home to a Fossil watch store and sits between jewelry store Swarovski and shirt seller Untuckit, near the Crate & Barrel.

The store would appear to be Warby Parker’s first in the Richmond area, according to the company’s website.

While it started as mainly an online retailer, Warby Parker has recently made a larger push into brick-and-mortar locations.

The Wall Street Journal reported in May the company planned to increase its store count by 35 this year. The company’s website listed 150 stores as operational Thursday, including in northern Virginia.

The addition of Warby Parker is the latest in a busy stretch of news at Short Pump Town Center.

Fabletics, an activewear brand, plans to open a store at the mall. The mall’s owners recently purchased the space that was formerly home to Nordstrom.
