While an 18th-century reconstructed mansion was the month’s top home sale at just over $3 million, November saw at least four more multimillion-dollar deals across the Richmond area, including one that involved another 1700s-era home.

The 7-acre Fairfield estate in western Henrico sold Nov. 15 for $3.1 million to Jason and Christa Vickers-Smith, represented by Dawson Boyer with Providence Hill Real Estate. The 10,000-square-foot mansion at 211 Ross Road had been on and off the market for years and most recently was listed at $3.3 million.

John and Holly Martin with Shaheen, Ruth, Martin & Fonville Real Estate represented the sellers, descendants of the late Alice Preston Smith, whose family had owned Fairfield for nearly a century.

Jason Vickers-Smith is a principal of WVS Cos., the development firm behind Rocketts Landing.

The rest of the month’s top five sales all came in above the $2 million mark, according to the Central Virginia Regional Multiple Listing Service.

404 S. Mooreland RoadComing in at No. 2 was 404 S. Mooreland Road, an 8,000-square-foot house in Henrico’s Mooreland Farms neighborhood. The five-bedroom, 6½-bathroom house sold Nov. 14 for $2.23 million, above its July list price of $2.19 million.

Jim Dunn with Joyner Fine Properties had the listing, representing seller Susan Armstrong, an attorney who bought it in 2015 for $1.12 million.

Property records list the buyers as Gerlinde Edwards and George Manson Jr., a local attorney. They were represented by Melanie Roupas, also with Joyner.

Roupas said the parties didn’t know each other and their similar occupations were not a factor in the deal. She said Edwards and Manson are relocating from within Henrico and were drawn to the listing for its location and privacy, among other factors.

“What was spectacular about that property is the location, the house, the lot and then the privacy that that whole property offers,” Roupas said. “The circular driveway and the hedges out front provide extreme privacy in that location. I think that was a big highlight, in addition to it just being a fantastic home.”

Built in 1962, the two-story Cape Cod includes a renovated kitchen, two en suite bedrooms on each floor, a walkout basement and two-car garage. The 1.2-acre property is assessed by the county at $1.32 million.

The third-priciest sale was 1 Raven Rock Lane, an 8,100-square-foot lakeside house in Henrico’s Sleepy Hollow neighborhood that sold for its $2.2 million list price on Nov. 16.

Long & Foster’s Pam Diemer listed the house in September for sellers Rodney Willett and Lydia Pulley, a state delegate and former Verizon executive, respectively. The couple is downsizing and remaining in the area.

Joyner’s Nancy Cheely represented the buyers, Jonathan and Kelly Stalls. Jonathan is a senior vice president at Capital One.

Totaling five bedrooms and 5½ bathrooms, the midcentury modern-style house was built in 1978 and designed by Richmond architect Bud Hyland, who apprenticed under famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright. It was recently renovated by Mark Franko Custom Building and architecture firm 3North.

Willett and Pulley bought the house in a multiparcel sale in 2002 for $1 million. Henrico assessed the 6.4-acre property this year at $1.3 million.

6426 Three Chopt Road

The house at 6426 Three Chopt Road was recently renovated and enlarged.

Coming in fourth place was 6426 Three Chopt Road, a 3,400-square-foot house in the city that sold Nov. 29 at its $2.19 million list price.

Michelle Ferguson with Long & Foster’s Virginia Properties listed the house Sept. 8 for sellers Clark and Pamela McGhee. Clark is co-founder and CEO of GradCapital, a student financing services firm. Pamela is a retired physician and works as a home renovator and designer.

The Clarks purchased the home in 2019 for $836,500, and Walsh Builders completed a renovation and additions in 2020. The couple has a track record of restoring homes and selling them, having previously done the same with 16 Country Squire Lane, a Henrico house they purchased for $926,000 and sold six years later for $2.49 million.

Lil Racelis with EXP Realty represented the buyer on 6426 Three Chopt, listed on a deed as a trustee for James Fraser. The 1930s-era house has four bedrooms and 2½ bathrooms and includes a temperature-controlled saltwater pool with automatic cover and landscaping designed by Marcia Fryer. The City of Richmond assessed the ¾-acre property at $1.13 million.

287 Flag Station Road

The Hereford Hill estate in Goochland County dates to the 1700s.

Rounding out the top five sales for November was 287 Flag Station Road, a 5,300-square-foot home in Goochland known as the Hereford Hill estate. The 6-acre property sold Nov. 9 for $2.19 million, below its August list price of $2.5 million.

Debbie Gibbs with The Steele Group | Sotheby’s International Realty listed the home for seller Marjorie Whiteside. Raven Sickal with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty represented the buyer, listed in property records as a trustee for Scott Branch.

Built in 1770, the five-bedroom, 4½-bath house overlooks the James River and was expanded about 50 years ago. The property includes a pool, a pool house with a bar, guest house, three-stall barn, par 3 golf hole and tennis court. Goochland assessed the property at just over $1 million.
