Merged accounting firms find new digs in Innsbrook

Capping off their merger last summer, accounting firms Kimble CPAs and KWC have a new hub for their local operations.

The combined firms, now operating here solely under the KWC banner, recently moved into an 11,000-square-foot office at 4405 Cox Road.

The space replaces Kimble’s former home at 6806 Paragon Place and KWC’s previous Richmond office at 5911 W. Broad St.

Upon joining forces in July, the firms knew they’d need larger digs to bring KWC’s 14-person roster under the same roof as KWC’s existing 16 local employees.

KWC is based in Northern Virginia and entered the Richmond market in 2017 when it absorbed Biegler & Associates.

Kimble co-founder Kim VanHuss, who’s now a tax principal and shareholder at KWC, said the firms moved into the Innsbrook office in early January.

VanHuss said it has been a smooth transition into KWC and the firm is looking to expand its headcount locally.

“The merger has been very well accepted by clients and personnel,” VanHuss said. “I love my new partners in the firm and I am really enjoying having additional resources and minds to work out problems.”

VanHuss founded Kimble in 2016 with Bill Berry after they spun off from Elliott Davis, a larger firm that closed its Richmond office. VanHuss sought a merger partner after Berry’s retirement last year.

KWC was founded in 1983 and is based in Alexandria. The addition of Kimble brought the firm’s annual revenue to around $22 million and its workforce to more than 100 employees.

Paragon place seems to have fallen on hard times, and that part of West Broad is totally changing
