Dunkin’ is debuting a new store design for the region with its latest planned location in western Henrico.
The donut and coffee shop chain is planning to open a new, drive-thru-only store in the Tower Plaza shopping center at 3401 Cox Road, according to plans filed with Henrico County.
The 1,400-square-foot location would operate under the “Dunkin’ Go” brand that the Massachusetts-based company has rolled out in recent years.
Local Dunkin’ franchisee Lou Cabral of THG Management Inc. is behind the new location, and said in addition to the drive-thru it would have a walk-up window but no indoor customer access.
The restaurant would rise on part of the shopping center’s parking lot near the intersection of Cox and Three Chopt roads. The center is owned by local firm SugarOak Realty. Maryland-based Quick Service Restaurant and Retail Design Group is the project architect.
Earlier this month, Henrico’s Planning Commission voted to recommend approving a rezoning request that would green-light the project. The rezoning request must next be approved by the Board of Supervisors, which has yet to schedule the item on its agenda.
The store would be at least the fifth new Dunkin’ to open in the Richmond region in recent years, including one Cabral opened within Dominion Energy’s Thomas F. Farrell II Building office tower downtown.
The new location will join six other Dunkin’s in western Henrico, including recently opened spots at 3125 Lauderdale Dr. and 2300 Hungary Road.

Large traffic volume at this intersection, good location for a DD.
