Shake Shack is making it a double in the Richmond market.
The New York-based burger joint is planning to open a new location at 1371 Huguenot Road in Chesterfield, according to permits filed with the county last week.
It is set to occupy a roughly 3,000-square-foot new-construction building with a drive-thru near Chesterfield Towne Center. The shell of the building was completed in recent months and a tenant up-fit permit lists Shake Shack as the building’s lone occupant.
It’s unclear when Shake Shack plans to open in Chesterfield. The company did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
It’ll be the fast-food chain’s second restaurant in the region. It flipped its first Richmond-area burger in June when it opened at 5400 W. Broad St., in the redeveloped Willow Place shopping center in Henrico.
The Huguenot Road storefront is one of four new outparcel buildings to rise at the intersection of Koger Center Boulevard in recent years. They replace a big-box H. H. Gregg store that was razed by landowner Arctrust Properties and developer Goodman Properties. The other new tenants in the buildings are Chase Bank, Torchy’s Tacos and Raising Cane’s.
Goodman did not respond to a request for comment. Arctrust also wasn’t available for comment.
Brokers Trey Blankinship and Andrew Segall of Segall Group were the listed agents for leasing at the retail center.
Shake Shack’s portion of the center had once been eyed by D.C.-based chain &pizza, but that deal fell through. &pizza did not return a request for comment.

Food was AMAZING – but I spent $80 for 3 people.

There seems to be a glitch in the comments section?
I had my first taste of Shake Shack last week. Will NEVER go back. Food was horrible, fries were cold, my chicken sandwich was nothing but gristle, but what was worse was, the employee taking my money, handing my meal and then slamming the window in my face with not even a smile or thank you! Where is customer service these days……..
Another win for south side
Are they going to add a drive thru??? Building is done and I don’t remember a drive through with the &pizza space.
