A burrito restaurant near VCU is hopping off Broad Street and into a new development one street over.
Qdoba Mexican Eats is preparing to open a new location at 933 W. Grace St. that would replace its long-standing store a block north at 935 W. Broad St.
Its new Grace Street space will be on the ground floor of an mixed-use building being developed by the Abouzaki family.
A Qdoba spokesperson said that the new spot is slated to open in August and that it’s a “replacement store” for the other, whose lease is expiring. The Broad Street Qdoba has been open in the Ramz Hall building since at least 2006.
Qdoba is taking about half of the new development’s 6,000 square feet of commercial space. Above the first floor will be two levels with 21 apartments. Construction of the development got underway last fall.
Nael Abouzaki said he’s excited to have landed an operator like Qdoba in the new development, and added that the developers are in advanced talks with another national tenant to take the remainder of the building’s commercial space. Reilly Marchant at Thalhimer has the listing.
Another new restaurant is in the works a block to the east. Signs have gone up for Honoo Ramen Bar in the old Noodles & Co. space at 814 W. Grace St., though details around the concept are sparse. Multiple attempts to reach the operator have been unsuccessful in recent months.
A few doors down from Qdoba’s Broad Street store is the long-vacant Extreme Pizza space that’s set to become a Wingstop Restaurants location.
