Hadad’s Lake back on the market after auction bids run dry

This week’s online auction of longtime Varina swimming hole Hadad’s Lake ended yesterday without any bidders, and the property is now being marketed for sale once again.

The Hadad family, who had operated the water park and entertainment venue at 7900 Osborne Turnpike for over 60 years, has been looking to sell the property in recent years. In 2023 they listed the 6.5-acre park, along with an adjacent 30-acre wooded parcel, for sale with an asking price of nearly $1 million

While the wooded area sold last year for $261,000 to a Northern Virginia-based buyer, the lake did not, leading the Hadads to put the property up for auction

The online auction was held this week and concluded Wednesday morning without any bidders. Auction firm Tranzon Key oversaw the process. Tranzon’s Linda Terry said discussions are occurring with multiple parties who are interested in the property but didn’t want to get in at the auction’s $300,000 starting bid.

“We do have interest, just not at that figure,” Terry said. “We are (now) soliciting any and all offers.”

The property is zoned for commercial and entertainment business uses, and Henrico County most recently assessed the site at $438,000.

Hadad’s Lake includes a natural-bottom swimming pool, lake, banquet hall, gazebos and more. Last week Tranzon held an open house at the property, and Rae Nunnally with the auction firm said around a dozen people came to check it out.

The park was last open in the summer of 2023.

Not sure they could even give this property away. So much work would have to be done to upgrade the facilities or to remove them for another use. They evidently sold off what was the best part of the total property.
