Yebo launched a website for Westhampton restaurant Cocodrilo. The agency also provided brand voice, branded posters, photography and social media messaging strategy for the Latin-inspired restaurant, which opened this month. Yebo collaborated with KurbMedia on website development and user experience.

First Arriving hired Stephen Hawley Martin as chief marketing officer. He is tasked with managing the Ashland-based agency’s strategic services business and leading its strategy development and campaign planning. Martin was recently an independent marketing consultant and previously led Hawley Martin Partners after an eight-year stint as a Martin Agency exec.

Whittington Consulting hired Gwyn Wood as an account strategist.  She was formerly with Therapy Brands.

The King Agency created a campaign for First Team Automotive to promote the Hampton Roads dealership group’s Sell to First Team program. Campaign materials include a TV spot, digital ads, a website and social media content. The agency worked with Broadscope Media to produce the TV spot.

King Agency hired Jeremiah Gilmer as an art director and Taylor Sumners as an account executive.

VCU’s Robertson School of Media & Culture held its annual CreateAthon event March 25, returning to an in-person format. Forty students volunteered work for four area nonprofits: Bright Minds RVA, which received a new website and logo; Slyderz Baseball RVA (new website, logo and event advertising); Better2Gether (social campaign); and Caring Clothes Closet (branding and social). Event sponsors included Arts & Letters, Wildfire and Fable Branding + Advertising.

Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU’s “Wonders Within” commercial was awarded two gold Addys at the American Advertising Federation’s 2022 Miami Addys presentation. The awards were in television and digital video categories. The ad, for the hospital’s Wonder Tower expansion, was produced by Miami-based agency Markham Yard. The ad also was recognized for its use of animation.

903 Creative completed branding work for Hotel Cape Charles promoting the Eastern Shore hotel’s 10th year of operation. The agency developed branding and is designing new websites for two businesses in Skippers: Innovative Forensic Investigations, an investigative genetic genealogy company, and country store Ole Southern Harvest.

903 also completed branding, packaging and website work for VaxXine Vodka, a Texas-based distillery.

An advertorial JLV and Usry created for Winndom Mattress through the Hopewell marketing program.

JLV Communications and Usry Strategic Partners were hired by the City of Hopewell for its COVID-19 Small Business Marketing Program. The firms created marketing plans for 26 small businesses to assist them through the pandemic, with the city offering up to $2,500 for each business to implement a portion of its marketing strategy.

Work through the Hopewell program ranged from façade improvements and signage to websites, social media and advertising. Participating businesses included Guncotton Coffee, Haley’s Honey Meadery, LRZ Legacy Scrubs, Roja Taco Joint, Saucy’s Bar.BQ and Winndom Mattress.
