A national retail developer has grabbed some land in Henrico, further solidifying an out-of-town urgent care company’s entrance into the local market.
National Retail Partners, a publicly traded real estate firm based in Orlando, last month purchased the 1-acre site at 4903 Nine Mile Road for $1.36 million. The parcel sits adjacent to Eastgate Town Center on the redeveloped former Fairfield Commons mall property.
Plans are on file with the county for a MedExpress Urgent Care center to be built on the plot. MedExpress spokeswoman Annie Jamieson said the company hopes to open the location this fall.
MedExpress has two additional Richmond-area locations in the works, one at 11603 Midlothian Turnpike that’s to open this fall and 8040 W. Broad St., set to open next month. It has more than 200 locations nationwide, primarily in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.
National Retail Partners serves as the developer and landlord of this latest location. It provides a similar service to retailers such as L.A. Fitness and Taco Bell, as well as Camping World, which recently bought its way into the local market with the purchase of an RV dealership in Hanover.
It has over 2,500 properties across 48 states. Forty-seven of its properties are in Virginia.
