“Most existing kava bars are in Florida. We were out there one time and happened upon a few different kava bars. That’s where the idea was initially sparked from,” said KavaClub cofounder DJ Lee.
Lyne and Randall Doetzer, who opened Adarra in Jackson Ward in 2019, said their goal was always to find a forever home for the restaurant and that they were competing with developers for the Mamma Zu property who wanted to raze it in favor of apartments.
