Two local digital marketing firms have merged and are expanding to Shockoe Slip.
Dynamic Web Solutions and Your Search Advisor merged March 1 to form Workshop Digital. The new 23-person company will eventually move to a 7,600-square-foot office space at 111 Virginia St. in the Turning Basin Building.
Brian Forrester launched Dynamic Web Solutions in 2009, and Andrew Miller launched Your Search Advisor in 2007. Both firms focused on helping companies build and measure online marketing and sales.
Dynamic Web Solutions offered search engine optimization services, while Your Search Advisors was more experienced helping companies convert visits to their sites into sales or leads.
“Combined, now we have a full suite of digital marketing services,” Forrester said. “We’re able to scale to the next level. It allows us to offer a lot of services that dovetail well together.”
Forrester wouldn’t go into detail about the terms of the arrangement but did say both he and Miller co-own Workshop Digital. The firm has 85 clients in 19 states, including local companies Ledbury, CarLotz, Woodfin, Williams Mullen, Collared Greens and Virginia Commonwealth University.
“Clients come to us when they need a specialist in search engine marketing,” Miller said.
Miller said Workshop Digital specializes in generating sales through online marketing. Services typically start at a flat rate of about $3,000 a month, Forrester said.
Forrester said its mix of businesses made Shockoe Slip an attractive place to do work.
“It’s a good cultural fit for our workshop,” Forrester said.
In 2011, the two fledgling companies shared an office in Shockoe Slip when both were one-person companies. The idea to merge eventually came up.
“We were both a little green, but we remained in touch,” Forrester said. “We would still get together to talk shop and talk about our client load.”
Dynamic Web Solutions eventually grew to 15 employees at a 1,250-square-foot space at 1813 E. Broad St. near Church Hill. Your Search Advisor moved to 10120 W. Broad St. in Glen Allen and had five employees.
With the formation of Workshop Digital, the brands Dynamic Web Solutions and Your Search Advisor brands will no longer be used. Three additional hires have been made since the two companies merged.
Forrester said the challenge for the company now is competing for talented employees to help the company grow while keeping existing clients happy.
“One of our big challenges is finding and recruiting the best talent,” Forrester said. “The biggest push for us now is to integrate our systems to increase efficiency and deliver results for our clients.”

Congratulations to Andrew and Brian! Great to see a local company growing and succeeding, especially with these two great guys at the helm.
