RVA 25 is back – with a bonus

RVA25_logo_sketch_2.2For the third year of the annual RVA 25 celebration – an event that recognizes the fastest-growing companies in Richmond – BizSense is adding a twist to the formula.

We’re proud to introduce the addition of the Next-Gen 10, an objective ranking of smaller, up-and-coming companies that will accompany the popular RVA 25 list.

As usual, the RVA 25 will recognize the 25 fastest-growing companies in Richmond that have $1 million or more in annual revenue.

The Next-Gen 10 will honor the 10 fastest-growing businesses in the area with less than $1 million in annual revenue.

The goal with adding a second group is to give Richmond a more complete view of the fast-rising local companies that are helping to shape our economy and create jobs. Surpassing $1 million in revenue is a huge milestone for a business, but that doesn’t mean those on the road toward the million-dollar club shouldn’t also be highlighted.

Rankings for both lists will be calculated by the average percent revenue growth over the previous three-year period – in this case, 2012-2014. Candidates must be privately held, headquartered in the Richmond region, in business at least three years and have a minimum of $100,000 in revenue.

To qualify for the rankings, companies must fill out applications and submit financials through our confidential process. Accounting firm Keiter is working with us to handle all financial information and compile the final growth percentages and rankings.

All financial information will be seen only by the accounting firm and will not be shared with Richmond BizSense or anyone else. Applicants can choose to make their annual revenue figures public on the list or can opt out to keep that number private.

The two lists will be published Sept. 21, and the 35 companies will be honored at a private evening event in October.

Deadline for applications is Friday, Aug. 28. The application for both the RVA 25 and Next-Gen 10 lists can be filled out by following this link.

And here’s a story highlighting some of last year’s eclectic RVA 25 honorees. We’re excited to see who shows up on the lists this year.
