Another big out-of-town law firm has set up shop in Richmond.
Waller, a Nashville-based firm with 250 attorneys, now has two lawyers on the ground in Scott’s Addition.
The firm first made a quiet entrance into the market last spring, when Molly Huffman came over from Richmond-based Hancock Daniel. She was followed in late 2019 by Nathan Kottkamp, who came over from McGuireWoods after 18 years.
Both Huffman and Kottkamp represent health care clients, including hospitals and health systems.
Huffman is a UVA grad who has a law degree from the University of Richmond. Kottkamp is a graduate of William and Mary and got his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
They’re working out of Gather’s Scott’s Addition location at 2920 W. Broad St.
The firm, in a prepared statement, said its expansion efforts are aimed at “bolstering our talent roster to benefit clients – particularly healthcare services companies and providers.”
The firm has larger offices in Tennessee’s Nashville, Chattanooga and Memphis, as well as Austin, Texas, and Birmingham, Alabama.
Waller’s arrival in Richmond continues a steady streak from 2019 of out-of-town firms planting a flag locally. In the fall, South Carolina-based McAngus Goudelock & Courie and Roanoke-based Frith Anderson + Peake both opened offices in Innsbrook.
They were preceded by Baltimore-based Miles & Stockbridge, which capitalized on the collapse of LeClairRyan to make its move into Richmond.
