After checking out of Grace Street in the city, a fast-casual restaurant chain is heading to Chesterfield’s Hull Street Road corridor.
Noodles & Co. filed plans last week for a new stand-alone location at 13518 Hull Street Road near Harbour Pointe.
Documents submitted to the county show a roughly 2,200-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru would rise on a half-acre plot. The site sits across from a First Watch restaurant.
The expansion comes a few weeks after the Colorado-based chain shuttered its VCU-area restaurant at 814 W. Grace St. That location had been reopened for about a year after what the company called an “extended yet temporary closure” from March 2020 until August 2022. However, a sign was posted on the door in recent weeks stating that it’s now closed permanently.
The Hull Street spot would be Noodle & Co.’s sixth location in the region, none of which are in the city limits.
Other noodle offerings in Richmond include BigWife’s Mac n’ Cheese, a takeout concept from the owners of Bookbinder’s that opened earlier this year along Arthur Ashe Boulevard.
Noodles & Co., whose menu includes Asian- and Italian-influenced noodle dishes, is looking to open on Hull Street Road in mid-2024, a company spokesperson said. The publicly traded company has more than 450 locations nationally.
Other chain restaurants to pop up along Hull Street Road in Chesterfield in recent years include Eggs Up Grill and Fatburger, and more are on the way as fried chicken chain Raising Cane’s is currently building a new location at 6921 Lake Harbour Drive about a mile to the west.

Even after it re-opened in August it must have had a hard time keeping staff as it was closed at the most random times including many days closing at 5pm for the day.
Noodles and company previously opened and closed in the same building prior to 2020, as well. I wonder if it’s a facility issue in addition to a staffing problem.
