John Marshall conversion finally begins

After years of hype and decades of false starts, construction has started on a $66 million renovation of the iconic Hotel John Marshall. Crews are assembling the fence around the site, and demolition workers are taking out the old furniture.

Construction has indeed started on one of Richmond’s neatest — and most troubled — buildings. Crews are setting up the barricade around the structure and demo crews have started taking out furniture from the inside.
