Two new-to-Richmond retail chains have arrived in Carytown.
Sweets shop Kilwins and secondhand clothing store Buffalo Exchange are open for business at 3115 and 3140-B W. Cary St., respectively.
Kilwins makes a variety of sweets, including house-made fudge, candies and ice cream. The chain has over 100 locations nationwide, with the Carytown spot as its first in the Richmond market.
Kilwins opened in mid-August in part of the former Carey Burke Carpets space with a staff of about eight. Derek Poh, who co-owns the franchise with wife Valerie, is the grandson of retired Carey Burke owner Rick Poh.
The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
Kilwins is bookended by The Jasper, a bar that opened in early 2018, and the former W. Hirsch Oriental Rugs building that is being converted into a West Elm home furnishings shop.
Meanwhile, across the street, Arizona-based Buffalo Exchange opened Sept. 1 in the former Janet Brown Interiors space at 3140-B W. Cary St.
The chain has 50 stores in 21 states that buy, sell and trade women’s and men’s clothing and accessories.
It pays 30 percent of the selling price in cash or 50 percent in store credit for lightly used items. It carries vintage, modern and designer clothes and accessories.
