Stony Point Fashion Park has lost its luster for L’Occitane.

The skincare retailer has closed down its location at the South Richmond mall and is expected to open a store Wednesday at Short Pump Town Center.

The retailer has taken over an 880-square-foot space on the lower level of the Short Pump mall across from Pottery Barn, Short Pump Town Center spokeswoman Rachel Wille said in an email.

The space was formerly occupied by chocolate store Godiva, which shuttered the location amid a larger pandemic-induced U.S. drawdown in 2021.

L’Occitane didn’t respond to a request for comment, but a sign posted on the Stony Point storefront last week stated: “We are closed. We are moving,” and hinted at a “grand opening next week in our new Richmond location.”

The chain, which also sells soaps, shampoos and similar products, has just the one Richmond-area location.

L’Occitane joins other recent arrivals to Short Pump Town Center, including women’s clothing store Windsor and eyewear retailer Warby Parker.

It’s at least the second tenant to leave Stony Point in the last six months, after Banana Republic shuttered its store there in September, while keeping its Short Pump location. Kids cooking school Edible Education recently opened at Stony Point.

Stony Point was listed for sale last year, and the Richmond EDA recently transferred the parking lot around the mall to the mall’s owners at no cost.

Breaking news: Fountain announces it’s leaving stony Point, will relocate to Short Pump

Good Lord for the umpteenth time Stony Point is not “Southside”

Southside is Jefferson Davis turnpike and Manchester and hillside Court and Bellmeade, where Richmond’s crime flourishes

Where you’re pointing to is the wealthiest area in Richmond and far from Southside.

The area you describe in this article is south of the river or Stony Point or Bon Air.

Do you describe every location north of the river as Northside?
Is Short pump Northside?
Is shocko slip Northside?
Is Windsor farms or carytown Northside?

I know you’re not from here, so you’re welcome

For many longtime Richmond residents “southside” means south of the James within the city.
