A new Lakeside convenience store is carting in doughnuts from Eastern Henrico to lure in traffic.

The Ruttish Quick Stop at 5815 Lakeside Ave. recently started selling Country Style Donuts at its newly reopened store. A sign was put up on the property to help attract the neighborhood’s sweet tooth.

The shop, which sits just over the county line past Bryan Park, is under new management and has had various incarnations as a gas station/convenience store over the past two years.

Nader Nassereddine, part of the family that owns Country Style, said several businesses across town stop by the Williamsburg Road doughnut shop in the mornings to pick up batches to sell at their respective businesses. They include Fan area coffee shop Lamplighter and the Blue Goat, a restaurant near Libbie and Grove avenues.

“They pick it up every morning,” Nassereddine said.

Country Style has been in business since 1968 and has a loyal customer base that stops in all hours of the day and night.

The shop recently started doing a second daily batch of doughnuts to keep up with demand, Nassereddine said. It’s also looking to put in outdoor seating at its store at 4300 Williamsburg Road.
