A landlord wants $35,000 in unpaid rent while a local bank is trying to collect $400,000 from a developer and $200,000 from a restaurant. Plus a $300,000 garnishment from a dentist.

Plus an accounting firm is being sued for malpractice and a Performance Food Group is trying to collect from a Stony Point restaurant. And Chesterfield is going to try and sell developments that are delinquent on taxes.

Lots of disputes this week, including some interesting cases in the construction industry. For example, a contractor hired to fix a pond for the City of Richmond wants the court to approve higher compensation because the project was allegedly more complicated than the City said it was. Plus a woman claims she tripped in the buffet line at a Piccadilly restaurant when her foot got entangled in a mat.

Capital One wants damages from a Richmond-based consultant. An architect tries to collect fees. A wrongful termination and defamation suit at Wellpoint. Meanwhile a former City Councilman has sued VCU and it’s current and former president. Plus A Valentines-Day slip and fall from 2009 and a plaintiff claims he cracked a tooth on an undercooked rice kernel at Taco Bell.

The partners of an apartment complex in Jackson Ward are feuding, while a brick company is trying to collect from a home builder. Plus a tourist claims she fell of a Segeway while on a tour and wants $2.5 million in damages.
