“I felt like the city’s missing that steakhouse feel,” said the owner, a first-time restaurateur and Richmond native with a background in commercial cleaning.
“My wife and I went on dates there when we were in college,” said owner David Blanchard of his new space, which also once housed Crossroads coffee shop.
Leek & Thistle will offer fresh-made food, but there won’t be any hot meals served there. The owner said the menu will be “whatever’s going to taste good.”
The owner is a Gloucester native who spent the last 18 years in New York City before relocating to Richmond during the pandemic.
The restaurant group plans to open in a to-be-built, 4,000-square-foot space at the mixed-use development by early spring 2022.
