New bites

Creekside Grill opened Nov. 22 in Powhatan.

Hanami Sushi Japanese Restaurant, headed by Sushi Chef Victor Peng, will open next month in Innsbrook.

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant opened Nov. 19 in Shockoe Bottom on North 18th Street.

Pasture, a new restaurant on East Grace Street, opened Nov. 25 at the hands of Comfort owner Jason Alley and Ry Marchant, owner of Six Burner restaurant in the Fan.

Ejan Rin Noodle Bar, which opened this summer on West Seventh Street, will close at the end of the year and reopen as Camden’s Dogtown Market.

C Street opened for breakfast and lunch Nov. 16 in the Old Church Building at 3325 W. Cary St. in Carytown. Executive chefs Graham Reeves and Jason Lucy are the culinary team. (Stay tuned to BizSense for the full scoop on this one.)

Mandarin Palace reopened this month with new owners. The 43-year-old Stratford Hills Chinese restaurant had been closed for three months.

Lulus/Mille’s owner Paul Keevil is opening Tio Pablo, a Mexican restaurant, next month in the old Boom Boom Burgers space at East Franklin Street.

Shenanigans, an Irish bar and restaurant in North Side, will close at the end of this year after 12 years in business.

Byram’s Lobster House on West Broad Street is now open under new ownership. Danny Klubowicz, executive chef, recently released a daily specials menu.

Norfolk-based O’Connor Brewing Company is now sending its beers to Richmond, according to a Brown Distributing newsletter. The brews include Great Dismal Black IPA, El Guapo IPA, Red Nun and Dry Nitro Stout.

Blue Goat came out with a new brunch and dinner menu late last month.

OMG Cafe in Church Hill is expanding with a new jazz lounge in the space next door on 25th Street.

Positive Vibe Cafe near Forest Hill Avenue held Guest Chef Nite on Nov. 20 featuring Greg Haley of Amuse restaurant at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and brother Brad Haley, executive chef at SODEXO in the Federal Reserve building.

Cafe Ole in Carytown has temporarily closed for renovations. The Mexican restaurant is also offering a new delivery service Tuesday and Friday through December for orders placed at the downtown location to be picked up in Carytown.

Homemades by Suzanne, the East Franklin Street catering company that’s moving inside the John Marshall, offered a four-course Thanksgiving dinner this year for about $25.

Jackson Ward gourmet market the Hoppy Dog opened at the end of last month on Brook Road.

Cheesecake Heaven, a walk-up shop for cheesecake by the slice, opened Nov. 4 on Three Chopt Road.

Soul food restaurant Carlyle’s Cafe opened Nov. 18 at the corner of West Main and Morris streets for lunch and dinner.

Original Gravity, a beer and wine kit shop, is now open on Lakeside Avenue.

Bank closed temporarily for renovations this month to upgrade its dining room and close its nightclub, The Vault.

Midnight Brewery, a small craft brewery, just opened in Goochland County on Granite Ridge Road.

Celtic-themed sports bar chain the Tilted Kilt is slated to open in Prince George County.

Ice Cream chain Dippin’ Dots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Nov. 3.

Mrs. Fearnow’s Brunswick Stew was mysteriously taken off local supermarket shelves for a few weeks this month. The case is still ongoing.

Arcadia restaurant opened Nov. 23 for dinner in the former Cafe Gutenberg spot at 1700 E. Main St. It also started serving lunch on Tuesday.
